The theme of the event is “The Importance of Balanced Nutrition”. This event is relevant to the 3rd SDG’s Good health and well-being and the 4th SDG’s Quality education.
At the 1st meeting, a session was presented by Rusda Kuddah, S.Gz., RD. with the theme is “Introduction to Counseling, Counseling Stages, and Improving Communication in Counseling”. Counseling is a form of approach used in nutrition care to help individuals and families with the problems they face. In counseling, several stages are needed, namely, building the basis of counseling, exploring problems, choosing solutions, interventions, and monitoring and evaluation. Counseling requires effective communication skills that can be done by actively listening, asking questions, providing clarification and reaffirmation, concentrating fully and speaking clearly and straightforwardly. After the speaker session ended, it was continued with a case study “Counseling to Fill My Plate Rich in Animal Protein as an Effort to Prevent Stunting in Children and Adolescents”.
At the 2nd meeting, a presentation session was presented by Adhelia Niantiara Putri, S.Gz., M.Gizi. who explained “Introduction to Nutritional Anthropometry Tools”. This anthropometric measurement can be done by measuring toddler weight, head and chest circumference, measuring height using a microtoise, fathom length (arm span), and measuring tissue mass such as upper arm circumference, knee height, neck circumference, abdominal circumference, waist and hip circumference ratio and fat thickness under the skin. After the lecture, students were allowed to practice direct measurement by measuring their colleagues.
At the 3rd meeting, offline field practice was carried out at SDN Jambangan 1 Surabaya. The activity began with a presentation session conducted by LCC participants by discussing material about child nutrition entitled “The Importance of Balanced Nutrition”. The speaker session lasted for 15 minutes. After that, it was continued with anthropometric measurements and writing goals and hopes for students of SDN Jambangan 1 Surabaya. The activity was closed with a hope balloon flight which was greeted enthusiastically by all LCC participants and students at SDN Jambangan 1 Surabaya.
