HGN 2023: Optimizing Balance Nutrition and Prevent Stunting through My Plate

Celebrating the National Nutrition Day (HGN) for the 63rd time, the nutrition study program, Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Airlangga performed socialization of balanced nutrition on Sunday, January 29, 2023. This event was held in a car free day location, Taman Bungkul Surabaya. This year’s National Nutrition day is raising the theme about “Animal based nutrition to prevent stunting” through tagline “Animal protein every in every meal” and “my plate rich in animal protein”. This event is executed as the implementation of 3rd point of SDGs which is Good Health and Well Being, about healthy life and society welfare where health issues become the center of attention of sustainable development. 

The reason for choosing a car free day event in Taman Bungkul Surabaya is because of the high enthusiasm of society to visit this place, especially on the weekend. People who attend this event is coming from various age and backgrounds so that it makes the socialization can be accepted in various targeted population. 

The priority targeted population of this national nutrition day are women in reproductive age, adolescent, and children as the nation’s next generation and population targeted for stunting prevention. The aim of national nutrition day is to escalate nutrition knowledge of Surabaya society related to the importance of daily nutrition fulfillment through the guidance of my plate by focusing on increasing animal protein consumption to prevent stunting. 

The National Nutrition Day is held by making a stand while being guided by several college students and lecturer of the nutrition study program, Universitas Airlangga. The society passing through the stand is enthusiastic, shown by their action to visit the stand and listen to the given socialization. Some of the college students also strolling around the car free day event to give education and leaflet filled by my plate infographic and bidari biscuit innovation, as the product developed by Prof. Dr. Ir. Anis Catur, M.Si. Bidari, which produced from catfish flour is an alternatives product high in protein in order to prevent stunting was succeeded to attract the attention from society in this social activities. 

The celebration of nutrition national day is an annual reminder for all of the Indonesian to make them more conscious to fulfill their nutrition needs to create healthier and free stunting Indonesia. Follow my plate guidance, create free stunting generation for civilized Indonesia.
